January
21st,
A
review of Scythe has been posted on Connexion Bizarre.
It's funny how much expections sway the review. There
was enough complaining about calling the album "Semi-dark,
aggressive EBM" that I have been marketing it for
the past few months as "Experimental Goth"
instead (It takes 3-5 months to get a review sometimes).
The feedback has been better just by a genre description
change! But really, I don't know what to call it. Let
the genre wars continue! - Monty

Happy
New Year! This is going to be the biggest year for DZ
yet. Lots of promotional plans and live shows are coming.
Do
you live in Denver and like 80s German EBM? Liquid Records
has partnered up with Section
44 and is offering a free copy of Scythe for everyone
that goes to the And
One show February 26th. Tickets can be
purchased here
for $15.
It
has taken me longer than I expected to find talented
musicians with good chemistry to take Scythe live. I
had hoped to announce show dates by now. The shows are
coming though, I'm just going through as many auditions
as I can to bring the best show that I can.
Pavarotti,
one of my favorite vocalists. Not just for his vocal
skills, but because he would break the mold and collaborate
with anyone (like U2). An era has ended. The music in
heaven just got a lot better. - Monty
The
reviews are rolling in for Scythe! Right now these are
in the forums until I rehaul the reviews area.
Last
night Utah's #1 local show (X96's - Live and Local)
played God Part II from Scythe. Thanks Portia! If you
live in Utah and are a X96 fan you can download the
recording here
. She gives a nice plug for the album from 3:13-3:39
even though she pronounced the name wrong.
I'm
trying to build a local buzz before DZ starts playing
live shows here. If you have a minute please email portia@x96.com
and fill out the X96
Song Request Form and request God Part II
from Scythe. The more times we can
get her to play it the better.
Thanks!

Give
The Gift Of Murder This Holiday Season.
Spread
the holiday fear this year with the latest release from
Music Ration Entertainment: A Murderous Mix.
Fill
your stockings with a dash of aggressive industrial-rock,
cutting-edge rap, and pulsing electronic coldwave. Featuring
SMP, Ascetic, The Loyal Opposition, Marginal
Prophets, Lucid Dementia, Penal Coloney, Fatal Wisdom,
Slave Unit, 64K, Labwrk, The Punk Group, Tankt,
and Dimension Zero.
Static
Space has been completely re-invented with this brilliant
up-tempo interpretation by Ant Mozart Khadaffi,
the mastermind behind Denmark's Warped Industrial band
Snuff Pop Inc. It's waiting for you
in the remixes area.
DZ's
Nascentes
morimur will be featured on Music
Ration Entertainment's compilation A Murderous
Mix! The compilation has 18 tracks from artists
such as SMP,
Lucid
Dementia, The
Penal Colony, Labwrk,
and many others. The mastering was finished May 10th
and the artwork is in production. Release estimate is
fall at the latest. Thanks to MRE and Jason Bazinet
for all of his hard work and asking DZ to be a part
of the project.
RePLiCa
(w/3 Bonus Tracks) EP is now available for order
at 2400 physical stores nationally
and globally. Thanks to the genius Derek Sivers and
CD Baby. This basically covers any physical or digital
music store in the world. If you have been holding back
because you don't like ordering online go to your local
music store and place an order!
Utahans,
places like MODified, Gray Whale, and CD Warehouse now
can order it.
The
new songs (Ice Man, LossLess, and Phantasm) are shaping
up very well. Stay tuned. Off to see Da Vinci Code!
Thanks
to the Internet, Dimension Zero has been played by hundreds
of basement DJs around the world. Commercial radio though,
that's a different story. Commerical radio typically
means spending tens of thousands of dollars to promoters
to get your tracks played. Sometimes hundreds of thousands.
Payola. Thankfully, SLC has a commercial radio station
with an indie heart and a locals only program.
Only
one radio station has ever meant anything to me, and
that's X96.
I grew up with X96 and have never stopped listening
to them. It's basically either X96 or my iPOD.
I
am happy to announce that on February 19th, the X96
Locals Only Show will be spinning a DZ track between
the hours of 8-10pm. I'm not sure which one yet but
the playlist
will be updated here. You can listen online here.
Thanks
Portia
for including DZ in your show. This is the first major
radio station to play DZ at a decent hour and I'm very
excited.

February

The
Era Of Voyeurism and Nascentes
morimur have been climbing the charts at Garageband.
Because of this, TEOV was featured as Industrial
track of the day on February 5th, and NM will
be featured as Jazz track of the day on February
13th.
Thanks
to those giving positive reviews over at Garageband.
Congratulations
to the estimated 10 million Iraqis who voted for their
first
full-term parliament. A historic day.
December
5th.
The
SPM
has been updated. In addition to the remixes, three
new tracks are in progress. The tentative titles are
LossLess, Ice Man,
and Phantasm. In the past I have tried
many times to break the pop mold but still use hooks.
To give the forthcoming album Scythe
a nice balance, I'm writing these three songs in traditional
pop format. I'm going for aggressive and I'm conforming
to the pop formula. No nu-metal trash. NES circa 1980s
soundboard will be the only instrument used on one of
these tracks. Should be interesting.

up as well.
Performance

Feedback

A
while ago I started to include two DZ demo tracks (R.I.P.
and TEOV) on the end of the RePLiCa CD single for fun.
This promotional CD is sent out to DJs and also for
sale on CDBaby.
I was wondering if the demos would pop up anywhere,
and sure enough, R.I.P. did. The Fevered
Brain Of Radio Mike included it on his September
19th show. If you want to hear a kick ass show
that sounds a lot like a Quentin Tarantino movie soundtrack
listen to it here.
Not only will you hear some not-yet-released DZ you
will also hear some excellent music from some amazing
artists you have never heard of.
RadioMike
says this about R.I.P. "DIMENSION ZERO
is an Unusual blend of Techno Pop Rock. It can Disturb
the Psyche in a Good way if you Let it. And you won’t
hear any of this on the Radio. Too bad. This is Pretty
Catchy stuff. "
The
finished R.I.P.-3 Pack is coming. I'm attempting to
make it as perfect as possible before putting it on
the site. So, if you are here looking for R.I.P.
it will be here soon.

Electronic
music pioneer Bob Moog died of cancer on August 21,
2005, at his home in Asheville, North Carolina. His
invention, the Moog synthesizer, was the first widely
used electronic instrument, and revolutionized the way
music was made.
Thank
you Bob
Moog for changing music forever. I'm sure you are
already reinventing the music in the afterlife. - Monty

July

The forthcoming Dimension Zero LP album name has been
changed from Nascentes Morimur to Scythe.
Still
working on the song Nascentes Morimur.
Almost finished with R.I.P.-3.
May
1st
Getting
Nascentes Morimur to work has been
difficult. Originally the idea was to mix Trance/Industrial/Techno
with Big Band Jazz. Well, things changed along the way
and I scrapped the Techno/Trance and just kept the Industrial
to mix with the Jazz. It was working well, but, I'm
not at a point where I can record a full Big Band section.
I attempted to create a live Big Band performance with
samplers and it just sounded cheesy in an 80s bad way.
I was just about to scrap it until after a little Googling
I found Greg
Adams' Big Band Brass. This is real Big Band music
played by legendary Big Band musicians. I'm going to
take what I have and conform it around these performances.
I am very optimistic. I'll let you know how it goes
here. This just came out last month and as far as I
know there is/was nothing like it so...perfect timing!
Still
Working on Nascentes Morimur to wrap
up the R.I.P.3-Pack.
March

It
looks like the columbine massacre desensitized us even
further. The news coverage for the latest major high
school massacre in Minnesota has a "been there,

Just
started two new songs, Lossless and
Dawn Of The Deadites. They won't show
up on the song progress meter until the R.I.P.
3-Pack has been published however.
The
Era Of Voyeurism
is finished. Just need to wrap up Nascentes
Morimur and the R.I.P. 3-Pack
will be available for download. I think you will be
pleased.
Patrick

3-Pack has launched his official site. If you
are looking for disturbing yet brilliant images visit
his new site here:
For
those of you that heard TEOV you may
have noticed a 80s video game influence. I picked sounds
that I thought were very 80s video gamish. Well, I decided
to take it to the next level. After doing some research
I found that music can be written using the same system
(though emulated) that was used for writing music for
the original 1980s NES. So, I'm going
to write some instrumentals for the upcoming album using
this system. Many thanks to the 8
Bit Peoples for pioneering this effort and sharing
their information.
If
you are interested in this form of writing check out
the following link. Writing music for the NES is similar
to computer programming.
The
Era Of Voyeurism
has just been sent out to the TBG for critique.
I'm off to the DIY
Music Convention in Hollywood for a week and will
update the news when I get back. Talk to you soon.

Happy New Year!
Hope
everyone had a great and safe new year! I'm excited
to see what the new year will bring. Two things for
sure though. One, the new full length album tentatively
titled Nascentes Morimur will be released
this year. Two, a US tour will follow to support the
release. Please join the Concert
Notification List to make sure you don't miss it.
The
Era Of Voyeurism's release to the TBG
has slightly been delayed due to a winter cold I always
seem to get..@#$%! I was supposed to record the vocals
last week but couldn't. But, the cold is gone so expect
it soon. The music is complete. All that's left is vocal
tracking and mxing.
